Mrs. Harriet M. James, 85, widow ot Randall James, died
yesterday afternoon in her home on the Petersburg, N. Y.,
line. Born in Bennington, Vt., a daughter ot Daniel and
Charlotte Rudd, she had spent nearly all of her long life
there and In Petersburg. The house in which she resided
stands half In Vermont and half In New York state. Mrs.
James was a member of All Saints Episcopal church in
Hoosick, N. Y, and was a very devout woman who enjoyed the
respect of everyone in the community. Her death was caused
by pneumonia and came after an illness of only four days.
She leaves three sons, Fenton of Petersburg, N. Y., Hawley
H., of Hoosick, N. Y., and Dexter R. James ot Cheshire;
five daughters, Mrs. Alice Wenzel of Troy, N. Y., Mrs.
Walter Cantello of Hoosick, N. Y., Mrs. Jerome Slade of
North Adams, Mrs. Albert Marshall of Hoosick Falls, N. Y.,
and Mrs. George Tatro of North Pownal, Vt., and one
brother, Henry E. Rudd of Bennington, Vt. Her funeral is to
take place Sunday afternoon at' 3 o'clock in All Saints
church In Hooslck and burial will be in Mapleton cemetery.2
