MR. THOMAS G. SMOTHERS, 41, 5822 Queen St., died Thursday.
A native of Camden, Tenn., he came to Orlando in 1935, He
was a shipping clerk for Turner & Gee and a member of the
Church of God. He was past president of the Orange County
Firemen's Assn. and for nine years he was assistant chief
of the Pine Castle Volunteer Fire Dept. Surviving are wife,
Catherine, Pine Castle; sons, Curtis B. Newman. Charleston,
S. C, Donald W. Newman, Sarasota, Robert M. Newman, Pine
Castle, and Irvin Smothers, Ft. Benning, Ga.; daughters,
Mrs. Priscllla Dukes, Vallejo, Calif., and Mrs. Sanda
Scott, Pine Castle; father, Irvin Smothers, Pine Castle;
brothers, Lee Camden, Tenn.. Hubert and Floyd, both of Pine
Castle, and Fred, Apopka; sisters, Mrs. Viva Arnold, Pine
Castle, and Mrs. Ava Baldwin, Winter Garden, and seven
grandchildren. Hawthorne Funeral Home is in charge.2
