Mrs. Nora Smothers. 54, Succumbs In Hospital
Mrs Nora Smother wife of I. R. Smother of Steele, died at
Southeast Missouri hospital in Cape Girardeau last Thurday
Morning. She was taken to the hospital Oct. 15, and
underwent an operation for removal of a goitre. The body
was taken from Cape Girardeau to Benton County, Tennessee
for funeral services and burial. Mrs Smothers was born Oct.
6 1881 in the Tennessee county and spent all of her life
but the past three years there. The family moved to near
Steele in 1932. She was married to Mr. Smothers 34 years
ago, and seven children all of whom are living, were born
to the union. The survivors are five sons, Herbert Smother,
of Orlando. Fla.; Lee Smothers, of Carroll County, Tenn.:
Floyd, Thomas and Fred, at home; two daughters. Mrs.
Hershell Arnold, of Benton County. Tenn., and Ava at home:
one sister, Mrs. Hattie Baker. and two brothers. Luther and
Arthur Kee, all of Camden Tennessee.2
