CAMDEN Services for Buford Lee Smothers, 77, will be at 1
p.m. Friday at Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home with the Rev.
Leonard Greer officiating. Burial will be in Cowell's
Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Smothers, a retired mechanic, died
early Wednesday morning at Benton County General Hospital
after a short illness. He was a native of Benton County and
a member of Cowell's Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Novell Jackson Smothers; two
sons, Laney Farrell Smothers, address unavailable, and
Elvis Lee Smothers of Decatur, Ala.; a stepson, James David
Hill of Oakland; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Beverly Jean Wheatley
of Big Sandy; two brothers, Floyd Smothers and Fred
Smothers, both of Florida ; a sister, Miss Ava Smothers,
address unavailable; and two grandchildren.2
