Services for Verdie V. Jones of Kennett, were conducted
Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel
with the Reverends J.C. Joyner and Wayne McLean
officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The daughter
of the late Robert Franklin and Sarah Blakely Bond, she was
born January 30, 1893 at Buena Vista, Tenn. On December 24,
1911 in Buena Vista. she was married to J.C. Jones, Sr.,
who preceded her in death on March 10, 1978. Mrs. Jones
died Friday at the Dunklin County Memorial Hospital at the
age of 87. She leaves five sons: Robert Jones, Camden,
Tenn., Wallace Jones, Moab, Utah; J.C. Jones, Jr., and
Clarence Jones, both of Rockford, Ill.; and Kenneth Jones,
Lake Lotawana, Mo.; six daughters: Ruby Wilson, Steele;
Lemith Garrett, Alba Holbert, and Shirley Bowling, all of
Kennett; Nayola Kubica, Chicago, Ill.; and Ruth Pruitt,
Memphis, Tenn., 27 grandchildren and 33
great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandsons: Gary Lynn
Garrett, Greg Jones, Chuck Jones, Gregory Jones, Dewayne
Pruitt, Rick Plunkett and Roger Hurley.1
