Veteran Georgia Official Is Dead
Atlanta, Ga Dec. 29. Col. William J. Speer, 84, treasurer
of the state of Georgia for a quarter of a century, died at
his home today after a lengthy illness. He wag able to
attend to his duties at the state capitol until about two
weeks ago but since that time had been confined to his bed.
He lapsed into unconsciousness Sunday. Funeral arrangements
will be announced later.3
