Distinguished Visitors. Col. D. N. Speers, of Atlanta,
State Treasurer of Georgia, was in town last Friday. He
came to see Mr. Benet about the estate of Dr. W. C.
Norwood, lately deceased, who was his uncle. He and his
brother, Mr. George A. Speers, banker, LaGrange. Ga., had
come to Hodges immediately after their uncle's death. Col.
Speers spent the evening at Judge McGowan's, and next
morning he met a number of our prominent citizens. He is a
cousin of Mrs. J. T. Robertson. His father was a native of
the Lowndesville neighborhood. Mr. Benet accompanied Col.
Speers to Hodges on Saturday, and at the request of Mrs.
Norwood and the other heirs of Dr. Norwood, he consented to
act as administrator of the distinguished physician's large
estate.1
