CHESTER PINKSTON, CARTERVILLE, DIES
Chester Pinkston, 83, of 427 Mulberry St., Carterville,
died at 3:50 p.m. Thursday in Alexander County Tuberculosis
Hospital, Cairo. He had been ill several years and in the
hospital 10 days. Mr. Pinkston was born June 28, 1882, in
Carroll County, Tenn., the son of Stephen and Margaret
Joyner Pinkston. His wife, the former Verna Ogden, died
Nov. 18, 1949. He was a retired merchant, operating a
hardware store in Hurst several years. He had lived in
Carterville 32 years after retiring. He was a member of the
Carterville First Baptist Church. He leaves several nieces.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Riggin
Funeral Home, Carterville. The Rev. Owen Hamilton will
officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Carterville.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.1
