Gideon was on the list of petitioners to form Stewart County Tennessee from Montgomery County Tennessee in 1803. Gideon fought at the battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812. In 1860, Gideon owned 4 slaves. Their names were Josh, Bill, George and Sam.^{3 4 5 1}
