Samuel was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. On 22 Nov
1794, Samuel and Molly sold 1,000 acres in Wilkes County,
Georgia to George Johnson for ¹100. Samuel and Molly
arrived in Tennessee about 1795 (at that time Tennessee was
still part of North Carolina). In 1796 Samuel bought a
tract of land in Tennessee County for $100.00.
In 1803 Samuel and his son Gideon were on the petition to
form Stewart County from Montgomery County. Samuel was an
early Baptist minister in Stewart County Tennessee as well
as a slave owner.1234
