Held For Clubbing Couple In Home

BENTON, Jan. 19 James L. Pinkston, 81-year-old bachelor of Royalton was near death today and Arthur Sapp, JO, an ex-circus wrestler, was herd in Franklin county jail here charged with clubbing Pinkston and a Royalton woman in whose home he roomed. State's Atty Leonard Dunn said that Sapp was arrested Saturday night a few hours after he allegedly entered the home of Mrs. Ida Harris, 52, and inflicted serious injuries on the two with an 18-inch-long club. Mrs. Harris, who is expected to recover, told authorities her assailant was intoxicated. Dunn , and Sheriff Clarence Smothers found two clubs concealed beneath the porch of the Y, M. C. A. building at Hurst- Bush, a neighboring village where Sapp lived. One of the clubs was blood-stained, Dunn said.5
