C. W. King
C. W. King, who lived at 65 Fox, died Monday morning at
11:30 in the Methodist Hospital in Memphis. Mr. King had
gone to Memphis Monday morning on business for his firm
when he be came ill and was pronounced dead upon arrival at
the Methodist Hospital. He was 59 years of age. Funeral
services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday from the Chapel
of George A. Smith and Sons with Rev. Jim Douglass and Dr.
Marvin Kilman officiating. Burial will be in Highland
Memorial Gardens. Mr. King was born July 21, 1913 in
Carroll County, son of the late William Charles and Mamie
Hammett King, and was educated in the public schools of
Carroll County. He had lived in Jackson for more than 40
years and had been an employe of the Dr. Pepper Company for
many years. He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist
Church. Mr. King was married to the former Ruby Madeline
Norwood on Sept. 17, 1935 and she preceded him in death in
December 1971. Survivors are: a son Charles W. King Jr. of
Beech Bluff; two foster children, Richard Temple of Jackson
and Mrs Agnes Johnson of Perry, Fla.; a granddaughter, Miss
Tina Annette King of Beech Bluff; a brother Billy King of
Hollow Rock; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Melton of Tiffin, Iowa
and Mrs Wilma White of Michigan; four foster grandchildren
and one foster great-grandson. His body will be at the
funeral home until the funeral hour. Pallbearers to serve
will be Frank Stovall, George Horn, Joe Patty, Edward
Moore, R. E. Norwood and Paul Norwood.2
