GILLESPIE, SARA ANN BOYD - 76, of Oak Ridge died Wednesday,
February 13, 2008 at NHC Health Care Center. She was born
November 9, 1931 in Bruceton, TN, the daughter of Joshua
Rieff Boyd and Annie Louise DeVault Boyd. In earlier years,
Mrs. Gillespie was a Senior Scout and worked with Campfire
Girls. She was also involved with the Oak Ridge Civic
Ballet, the Children's Museum, the Oak Ridge Historic and
Preservation Association and many other community groups.
She was a member of First Baptist Church. She is survived
by her husband of 57 years, Dr. James T. Gillespie, Sr.;
sons, Dr. James T.
Gillespie, Jr. and his wife Peggy of Knoxville, John M.
Gillespie and his girlfriend Angela of Maryville and Thomas
Boyd Gillespie of Pensacola, FL; daughter, Laura Jones and
husband E. R. 'Bud' Jr., of Alvaton, KY; brother, Joshua R.
Boyd, Jr. and wife Shirley of Piano, TX; sisters, Brenda
McLeroy and husband Tommy of Arizona, Nancy Perkins of Oak
Ridge and Jane Fuqua and husband Mac of Dalton, GA; 9
grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Funeral services are
Friday, February 15, 2008 at 1:00pm at Weatherford Mortuary
with Rev. Tim Borchert officiating. Interment will follow
at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family asks that any memorials be in the form of
contributions to the Children's Museum of Oak Ridge, 461
West Outer Drive, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family will
receive friends on Thursday from - 8pm at Weatherford
