MARY SULLIVAN DONATH AGE: 93 FORMERLY OF RED BANK
Mary Sullivan Donath, 93, passed away Friday, July 24, 2009
at her son's home in Pennsylvania. Daughter of Theresa and
James Sullivan; wife of Charles R Donath. Mary was born and
raised in Bayonne. She attended Holy Family Academy and
graduated from Bayonne High School. She met her husband
Charles, also a native of Bayonne, and was married for 45
years before his passing in 1981.There was always a
recounting of her family's days in Bayonne, Jersey City,
Elizabeth, and finally in Mary's other favorite place, Red
Bank. Charles's career change brought her to Red Bank which
was selected for its resemblance to her be loved Bayonne.
She worked as a secretary until her retirement. When
arriving in Red Bank in the 1950's she was hired by the
Borough of Red Bank and then moving on to work in the St.
James Rectory for many years Mary served on the PTA Board
ot Red Bank Catholic, and served as its president from 1960
to 1962. Mary loved to drive. She would pick up and visit
anyone for any reason anywhere in the country often by
herself. Mary loved to read, write in her journals,
upholster, re-finish furniture, crossword puzzles, browsing
and shopping for antiques. She was very proud of her Irish
heritage. Mary resided at the Meadowbrook Senior Housing
complex for several years before moving to Pennsylvania.
She was a communicant of St James and in later years, St
Doro thea's in Eatontown. She was predeceased by her
husband Charles R. Donath, an infant daughter Marlene, a
son Eric W. Donath, and 3 granddaughters, Melissa, Dorothy
Ellen, and Theresa (Tessa) Cantelo. She is survived by
daughters, Ellen Jane Cantelo of Orlando Fla. and Mary
Stine of Leonardo; her son, Dennis C. Donath of Beaver
Falls PA. , and Charles Donath Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA. 14
grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren, and 3 triplet great
great grandchildren. Visiting will be Tuesday, July 28,
2009 2:00 pm 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at John F. Pfleger
Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral
services are scheduled for Wednesday July 29, at 9:15 am at
the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at
10:00 AM at St. James RC Church, Broad St., Red Bank.
Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
