Mrs. Lula Smothers
BRUCETON Mrs. Lula Mae Smothers, 87, widow of W. W.
Smothers, died at 2:30 a.m. to day at Bruceton Clinic after
a long illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Wednesday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Benton County
with the Rev. John Hedge and the Rev. E. L. Smothers, a son
of Mrs. Smothers officiating. Burial will be in the church
cemetery with Bruceton Funeral Home in charge. Mrs.
Smothers was the daughter of the late Joseph Allen Allen
and Martha Fisher Allen. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs.
Clifford Abbott of Buena Vista, Mrs. Ed Butler of Bruceton,
Mrs. Curtiss Kerley of Oak Ridge and Mrs. Bruce Holbrook of
Kingston; three sons, the Rev. E. L. Smothers of Decatur,
Ala., Bulis Smothers of Camden and Gilbert Smothers of
Landrum, S.C.; a sister, Mrs. Albert Umstead of Camden; 17
grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren. The body will be
at the funeral funeral home until services.3
