Mrs. Esther Key Grubbs Services for Mrs. Esther Key Grubbs,
80. widow of J.H. Grubbs, were today in the chapel of
Lawrence, Sorensen and Lanier Funeral Home with Dr. David
Q. Byrd officiating. Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery. Mrs.
Grubbs, who had lived at 804 Hollywood Drive, died Monday
night at Haywood Park Hospital in Brownsville after a long
illness. She was a member of West Jackson Baptist Church,
the Mae Guy Sunday class and the Ladies Auxiliary to the
Veterans of WWI. She was born in Buena Vista and moved to
Bemis at an early age where she attended school. She was
married in 1918 to Mr. Grubbs, who died in 1959. She leaves
a son, James H. Grubbs Jr. of Jackson; two daughters. Mrs.
Ben Rushing Sr. of Jackson and Mrs. Robert Half acre of
Memphis; two brothers, W.A. Key and I.C. Key, both of
Jackson; a sister, Mrs. Fannie J. Watt of Jackson; six
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.2
