Bill B. Rains
Services for Bill B. Rains, 63, were 2 p. m. Wednesday from
the Main Street Chapel of George A.Smith A.Smith & Sons
with Rev. David Logan officiating. Burial was in Ridgecrest
Cemetery. Mr. Rains died Monday morning at Veterans
Hospital in Memphis after a long illness. Mr. Rains was a
native of Parsons, son of the late James A. and Lotta Boyd
Rains. He spent most of his life in Jackson and lived in
Memphis for 10 years. He was a retired district sales
manager for Allied Chemical Company. He was a member of St.
Andrews Methodist Church. He was a World War II veteran
serving in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific and serving in the
Korean War in the U. S. Air Force. He was a member of Cocks
Daniels VFW Post 1848, the American Legion Society No. 40 &
8 in Clarksville, Tennessee and a graduate of Austin Peay
State University, president of the Veterans Club and
president of the Presidents Club. He is survived by his
wife, Mary Frances Rains of Jackson; 2 daughters, Mrs.
Gayle Hooten' and her husband Tony of Jackson and Connie
Jacoway and her husband Steven Mark of Chattanooga,
Tennessee; 3 sisters, Rose Marie Fitch of Holly Springs
Mississippi, Lounell Vise of Birmingham, Alabama and Peggy
Gray of Phoenix, Arizona and 2-grandchildren, Cheri Hooten
and Deede Hooten of Jackson. . Casketbearers were R. C.
Stegall, Billy Fristoe, Darrell Fitch, Steve Harper, Sam
Malone, Ben Gore and Robert Hornsby. George A. Smith & Sons
