DIED.
A sad yet not unexpected death occurred on the south side ,
of the river last Wednesday, that of Col. Samuel C.
Norwood. Mr. Norwood was about 74 years old, was one of the
old pioneers of this county a man of energy and vim, and
when a friend he was unflinching. He had been confined to
his bed for about four months, but his strong will could
not hold off the grim reaper any longer. His remains were
buried on Thursday at the Caperton graveyard: with Masonic
honors and in the presence of a large concourse of
relatives and friends. He leaves a wife who stood by him
through life, one son and several daughters to mourn his
loss.1
