William Boyd Fristoe of Bruceton, TN, died at Jackson
Hospital on June 27, 2010. Mr. Fristoe, the son of Marie
and A. Frank Fristoe, was born on March 19, 1921 in
Bruceton.
Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at
Bruceton Funeral Home, followed by Interment at the
Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock next to his parents.
After receiving a degree in Agriculture from the University
of TN. Mr. Fristoe served in the Merchant Marines during
World War II. Following the war he served several years as
an agriculture agent in Poplar Bluff, MO. This was followed
by several years working as an insurance adjuster.
Following retirement, Mr. Fristoe spent many years living
with, and looking after, his parents in Bruceton. He was an
avid gardener and always had an over supply of all kinds of
vegetables -- canning many of them over a wood fire in the
backyard. He also loved to observe the martin birds,
providing them with many gourd houses made from the gourds
he cultivated.
Mr. Fristoe was preceded in death by his parents; his
sister, Juanita and two half sisters, Eva and Ava.
