John Travis Nolen
John Travis Nolen. 66. of 2371 N. Highland Ave., died
Monday at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a
long illness. Arrangements are incomplete with George A.
Smith and Sons, South Chapel, in charge. Mr. Nolen was a
veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a
member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1848 and was a
member of Bemis Chapel Baptist Church. A retired employee
of the Singer Company, he was employed by Bemis Cotton Mill
for 18 years. Survivors include his wife. Mrs. Thera Nolen;
two daughters. Ms. Janet Thomas of Dyersburg and Mrs. Joan
Collins of Peoria, Ill.; his stepmother, Mrs. Artie Maye
Nolen of Jackson; a brother, James I. Nolen of Brunswick,
Ga.; two sisters. Mrs. Cassie Wilson of Chattanooga and
Mrs. Gladys Eubank of Jackson; and seven grandchildren.2
