Sept 6 1924 in Decaturville Tenn to Jim and Georgia Blakney
Rushing He grew up in Burnsville Miss and graduated from
Burnsville High School He enlisted in the US Navy on Jan 29
1943 and served as a seaman first class aboard the USS
Pennsylvania in the Pacific Theater. He was honorably
discharged on Nov 2 1945 He was hired by Southwestern Bell
in 1947 and retired in 1987 He married Joyce Ferrell on
Sept 17 1948 in Stamford Texas The family settled in Fort
Worth in July 1965 and became members of the Pipeline Road
Church of Christ After retirement he traveled the world
with his wife He was preceded in death by a brother Charles
"Bud" Rushing of Burnsville Miss and his parents Survivors:
Wife of 52 years Joyce Rushing three daughters Melissa
Jordan of Mesquite and Teri Haag and her husband Ron of
Sacramento Calif and Lindy Colter and her husband Scott of
Austin two brothers Billy and his wife Mary of Burnsville
Miss and Travis Rushing and his wife Sylvia of Florence Ala
six grandchildren Jonathan and Amanda Jordan Christina and
Bradley Haag and Colby and Chad Colter3 4
