SMALL CHANCE OF RECOVERY
MRS MARY NEWMAN OF CARROLL COUNTY FEARFULLY BURNED

Huntingdon Tenn March 20 - Mrs Mary Newman wife of William
Newman who lives five miles west of here was fearfully
burned a few days since and her injuries are such that her
recovery is thought to be highly improbable. Mrs Newman is
64 years of age and has been an invalid for a number of
years. She was seated before the fire engaged in popping
corn when her clothing in some manner became ignited and
before assistance could reach her and the flames be
extinguished the old lady was burned an over the body. Dr
J. W. McCall of this city went out and administered to the
suffering woman and states that there is small hope of her
recovery.

Invalid, Fatally Burned.
Mrs. Mary Newman, wife of William Newman, who lives five
miles west of Huntingdon, died last week from burns
received in an accidental manner a few days ago. Mrs.
Newman, who was an invalid, was seated before the fire in a
rocking chair popping corn, and in some manner fell forward
into the fire and was burned in a terrible manner all over
hor bod'. She was 64 years old.

Special to the Banner Huntingdon Tenn March 25--
Mrs Mary Newman wife of William Newman who lives five miles
west of here died yesterday afternoon from burns received
several days ago. Mrs Newman who was an invalid was seated
before her fire popping corn and fell into the flames
receiving terrible burns all over her body. She was 64
years of age and her husband and several children survive
her. The interment took place at Liberty today.4 2 5
