FLOWERS- -John Elmer Flowers, 83, a resident of Albuquerque
for 46 years, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 1997. He was
born in Holliday, TN and attended Bethel College,
MacKenzie, TN. He is survived by his wife of 54 years,
Ethel Flowers; his son, Alan Flowers and wife Randee; and
two grandchildren, John Alan and Alanna Lynn all of
Chesapeake, VA; three sisters, Lena Cannon, Nashville, TN,
Jessie Allen, Paris, TX, and Georgia Meatheany, Cape
Geradeaw, MO; three brothers, Tillman Flowers, Jackson, TX,
Burlon Flowers, Columbus, OH, and Robert Flowers, Mobile,
AL; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Flowers was a member of
the Methodist Church.
He served in the USAAF during WWII in the 8th Air Force,
Burtonwood Station. He worked for Navajo Freight for 24
years, and was medically retired in 1975. He was a member
of Temple Lodge #6 A.F. and A.M., former member of the
Ballut Abyad Temple of the Shrine, and the Scottish Rite
Bodies of Santa Fe. He loved to camp, fish and work in his
garden.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 14, at 10:00
AM in the Fern Chapel of Strong- Thorne, 1100 Coal SE, with
Rev. Gerald White officiating. Interment will be in Sandia
Memory Gardens. Contributions may be made to the Shriner's
Crippled Children's Fund, P.O. Drawer 8410, Albuquerque, NM
