POLICHANY, Julius ("Tony") Age 95, went peacefully to be
with his Lord on Sunday, May 26. 2002. Loved ones preceding
him to Heaven include his wife Lillian, parents Margaret
and John, sister Margaret, niece Debbie, nephews Gregory
and Paul, and aunt Julia Bona. Born in Hungary, September
6, 1906. Julius immigrated to the US on August 23, 1922,
landing in New York on the same day his wife-to-be, Lillian
was born. He became a US citizen in 1927, and served in the
US Army as an MP and radio specialist. He worked at many
trades throughout his life, his longest job lasting 32
years, at McCall's Printing Co. Following retirement, he
quickly became bored, and went to work for Bimac
Corporation. Following his second retirement, and despite
partial blindness due to macular degeneration, he remained
extremely active, walking daily on the treadmill, mowing
and gardening, and making countless contributions to the
well-being of his family. Most important to him was his
service to his Lord, which included ushering at Far Hills
Community Church, where his membership dated back to its
beginning as Westwood Baptist Church. He continued all
these activities and more until the final month of his
life. Upon learning he had cancer, he remained positive and
optimistic. He especially wanted to continue to serve the
Lord, and to be present for the opening of the new Far
Hills church building in July. He will be deeply missed by
his son, Philip (Eva) Polichany, grandson Matthew, sisters
Irene (Joseph) Pronai and Anne (Louis) Taylor, numerous
nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews. Services
will be held on Wednesday, May 29, at Far Hills Community
Church, with visitation from 10 A.M.
to 12, funeral service from 12 P.M. to 1, and interment at
Miami Valley Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations
way be made to Hospice of Dayton. Spedial thanks to the
caring staff of Miami Valley Hospital, and to Dr. Barry
Taylor, who lovingly helped Julius through difficult
decisions and a peaceful passing to the next life.
