Deed of Gift from Thomas Blakeney to Jane Lucy
I, Thomas Blakeney of Montgomery county, for and in
consideration of the natural love and affection I have for
my daughter Jane Lucy, widow of Cadwallader Lucy of
Washington county, Alabama, and also in consideration of
the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid by my daughter, I
do loan to her, my daughter Jane Lucy, during her life, the
following negro slaves, Harry, Hannah, Peggy, Clara,
William, Rachael, Tamiria, Mary and Maria, Albert, Henry,
Sylvia, and Moria. And after her death, the negroes to be
equally divided amongst the children of her and her late
husband Cadwallader Lucy. Witness my hand and seal this
2nd day of December 1822.
