BURTCHVILLE TWP. Mrs. Thelma Ruth Pinkston, 78, died Sunday, April 2, 2000, in Port Huron Hospital after suffering a massive stroke. Thelma was born March 4, 1922, in Port Huron, the daughter of the late George and Lauretta Gossman. She married Harold W. Pinkston on Sept. 20, 1944. He died Jan. 3, 1997. Thelma was a graduate of Port Huron High School, Class of 1940. She was a member of the Port Huron Church of Christ. She lived in Gun Barrel City, Texas, for 20 years. She was very active there in the Beacon Church of Christ. She returned to Michigan in 1998 to be near her family after her husband died. She loved to boat, ski and crappy fish on Cedar Creek Lake in Texas. In her younger days, she was an exhibition roller skater and water skier in the Port Huron area. She loved boating, square dancing, snow skiing, water skiing, swimming, picking blueberries, walking her dogs and eating out with her family and friends. Thelma had a love of life and a laugh that was contagious and could brighten a room. Thelma is survived by a brother, Melvin "Bud" and Millie Gossman of Port Huron; a sister-in-law and longtime friend, Virginia Rich of Clyde Township; a niece, Judith and Tom Archer of Las Vegas, Nev.; a nephew, Steve and Kathi Gossman of Port Huron; a niece, Susan and Ken Durkee of Kimball Township; a niece, Deborah Trentman of Florida; a niece, Su (Pegg) and Allan Lane of North Street; a nephew, Phil and Lydia Pegg of Nacogdoches, Texas; many great nieces and nephews, including Chauntel and Steve Henry of Burtchville Township, Joshua Lane of Ruston, La., ReBecca Lane of Port Huron, Chris Pegg and Erik Pegg. both of Arkansas; several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews and cousins; many special friends; and her beloved dog. Lady. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Charles Terence Williams. Memorial services will be at 1 1 a.m. Thursday in Port Huron Church of Christ, 756 17th St. Dan Corp, minis-, ter of Port Huron Church of Christ, will officiate. A private burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery at a later date. Cremation arrangements are by Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave., at 17th Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Cherokee Children's Home, in care of Ken Mad-dox. Beacon Church of Christ, P.O. Box 67, Mabank.TX 75147.3
