Reuben A. Rudd was stricken with paralysis on last
Wednesday, and with out regaining consceniosness passed
peacefully away on Friday, at the old Rudd homestead, in
the west part of the town, now occupied by Enos B.
Armstrong and family. Mr. Rudd, who was 75 years of ago,
was born and has always resided in the house in which he
died. His declining years have been made comfortable by the
members of Mr. Armstrong's family, and every kindness shown
him as an honored inmrto of their home. The deceased, who
had never married, was a son of the late Enos Rudd, Sr.,
and a grandson of Joseph Rudd of Bennington battle fame,
and the writer of the celebrated Rudd letter. Of his
immediate family one sister only survives him Mrs. Joseph
Maynard of Hoosick Of a genial and kindly nature he won the
respect of all who know him and he leaves an unspotted
record for faithfulness and honesty in all his dealings
with his fellow men.1
