12th Tenn Cavalry, Company M, USA. Enlisted August 12, 1864
at Nashville, TN at the age of 22 years. He was a farmer at
Camden, Benton County, TN. Mustered out October 7, 1865 at
Ft. Leavenworth, KS. His service record shows his last name
spelling is Grear. His signature on recruit documents also
shows Grear.1
