PATTERSON, (WILLIAM) STOKELY, Co B, private, enlisted for 3
years in Carroll Co, TN on 8/12/62 and mustered in Benton
Co, TN on 8/17/62 at age 22. He was 5'8 Ła" tall, fair
complexion, blue eyes, dark hair, a farmer, born in Wilson
Co, TN. He furnished his own horse and equipment for one
month. Captured and paroled with the regiment at the
battle of Trenton on 12/20/1862, he most likely spent time
in parole camp at Camp Chase in Columbus, OH along with
Colonel Hawkins and others of the regiment awaiting
exchange. There is no further military information in his
files. His widow, Rebecca French Patterson (m. 1856),
filed for and received a pension. She thought Patterson
died at Andersonville, or on a train, from camp fever.
There is a minor's pension for John T Patterson. Stokely
and Rebecca Patterson were residents of Manleyville, Henry
Co, TN in 1860. MR #13181
