Benjamin fought during WW1.

Enlisted in Machine Gun Company, 2nd Infantry, North Dakota National Guard, at Dickinson, on July 14, 1917; called into federal service, World War, on July 15, 1917; served in Machine Gun Company, 2nd Infantry, North Dakota National Guard (Machine Gun Company, 164th Infantry), to Jan. 9, 1918; Company D, 2nd Machine Gun Battalion, to discharge. Grades: Private 1st Class, Aug. 20, 1917; Cook, Jan. 10, 1918; overseas from Dec. 15, 1917, to Sept. 3, 1919; wounded, slightly, May 4, 1918. Engagements: Defensive: Montdidier-Noyon. Offensives: Aisne-Marne; St. Mihiel; Meuse-Argonne. Defensive Sectors: Ansauville and Saizerais (Lorraine); Cantigny (Picardy). Discharged at Camp Dodge, Iowa, on Sept. 24, 1919, as a Cook. Cited in General Orders No. 5, Headquarters, 1st Infantry Brigade, AEF, Selters, Germany, June 1, 1919, for gallant and courageous conduct during his participation in all of the four major operations of this Division: Montdidier-Noyon defensive; Aisne-Marne offensive; St. Mihiel offensive; Meuse-Argonne offensive. Entitled to wear a silver star.

B. H. Schuster, Dickinson Resident B. H. "Dick" Schuster, Dickinson, retired state highway patrolman, died at his home there Tuesday. Born May 30, 1889, at Eureka Springs. Ark., he came to Dickinson in 1908 and served on the Dickinson police force before joining the State Highway Patrol. He was married to Lola Dryer Flanagan at Dickinson, Sept. 11, 1928. He was a veteran of World War I and a charter and 50-year member of Matthew Brew Post of the American Legion at Dick' inson. ' He leaves his wife, and one stepdaughter, Mrs. Lome Beau doin, Dickinson, and three step- granddaughters. . Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Price-Lisko Funeral Home with the Rev. Theodore Nace officiating. Pallbearers will be Allen Paulson, Jerry Barnhart, Harold Welch, Hollis Dietz, Jack Olin and Colby Burgess. Burial will be in the Dickinson Cemetery.4 5
